Description

Name: Linville Creek Dunkard Church (Oldest) Denomination; Dunkard Location; Broadway, Va. North on Indian Trail Road / Rt. 620, to intersection with Indian Trail Road / Rt. 717 and Mt. Valley Rd./ Rt. 620. The building used to stand on the hill at the northeast corner of the intersection, a spot now occupied by Keezletown Elementary School. Notes; 'In 1794, Rudolph and Frances Yount came from York county, Pennsylvania with their sons, Benjamin and Joseph. Joseph was a bachelor at the time, but Benjamin had a wife and children. Near Bowman’s Mill (later Broadway), the Yount’s built what is now known as the Tunker House. Restored in the early 1970’s by Samuel Lindsay, the Tunker House remains one of the notable remaining examples of early Dunkard meeting homes with its large downstairs room divided by a suspended, movable partition
