In 1909, Teddy Roosevelt was in Africa when he saw three elephants approaching a water hole. The other men backed off, and Roosevelt fired and brought down the largest. World-famous artist John Seerey-Lester painted the scene. Frank knew Seerey-Lester and the Roosevelt story, and displayed this painting above his fireplace in Montezuma.
