Description
1812-1815 Canadian Militia pattern 1796 Light Cavalry sabre scabbard. The body (including the shoe) of the scabbard is made of the same brown nickel plated steel as its matching sword's hilt. Attached to the loose rings is an adjustable pipe clay treated leather waist belt sling with nine brass lions decorating the buckles and rings. The S buckle is a two-headed snake.
Use
Carried from the waistbelt. Part of a set with a matching sabre.
Context
Belongs to one of the first swords in the British army to be produced under the Board of Ordnance.
