Description

1939-1945 War Medal w/ Mention in Dispatches oakleaf. A silver (.800) circular medal. Obverse shows a crowned effigy of King George VI facing left with the title "GEORGIVS VI D:BR:OMN:REX ET INDIAE IMP:" Reverse depicts a lion standing on top of a double-headed dragon with a title at the top that reads "1939-1945" Ribbon is red, blue, white, red, white blue, red. Ribbon measures 3.2x5.8 cm. Ribbon contains a bronze oak leaf in the centre that is pinned to the ribbon. Medal has plain, straighter suspender on top. Medal is court-mounted in group of 16 medals.

Use

Awarded to British and Commonwealth forces and Merchant Marines for 28 days of service in any location between 3 September 1939 and 2 September 1945.
