1944-1945 Irwin Air Chute Company "Caterpillar Club" tie clip. An original 5mm wide by 3 cm long white metal, ribbed caterpillar is soldered onto a "J' shaped, brass plated steel base. At underside one end is a hinged/wired/toothed spring clip.
