Description
1953-1968 RCAF officer's field service "wedge" cap. Wedge shape, flattened, blue-grey Barathea wool. Machine-stitched construction, one-piece crown, two-piece body and side curtains. Lining consists of a strip of brown velvet (60x 2.3cm) and beige machine-stiutched crown lining. Stitched label featuring maker's mark on right side of crown lining. Exterior wool components are folded on themselves, and held together at the front of the cap by two brass 'King's crown' RCAF service buttons (0.9cm diameter). Embroidered RCAF Cap badge on left-side crown, featuring an Edwardian crown, gilt eagle and laurel leaves (5.7x5.2 cm).
