1944 Seaforth Highlanders private's battledress jacket made of green khaki serge wool. The jacket is single breasted with a hidden button placket. There are six metal buttons (1.7 cm diameter) painted brown. There are two sets of metal hooks and eyes to close the collar. The shoulder straps are plain with only a brown painted metal button (1.7 cm diameter) to close it. Over the left breast is the ribbon medals for 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, and Canadian Volunteer Service. On each breast is a pleated patch pocket with a scalloped flap. The flap closes with a hidden metal button (1.7 cm diameter) painted brown. A black and gold lanyard hooks into the left pocket. On the waistband is an adjustable belt strap with a silver metal buckle (3.5 x 2.5 cm) and a fabric belt loop (6.5 x 1.5 cm). Each sleeve has a Seaforth Canada patch and two red rectangular patches. The small and large rectangular patches denote the 1st Canadian Infantry Division, 2nd Brigade. The larger rectangular patch is made of canvas. Towards the cuff on the right sleeve is a double red chevron to indicate two years service. Under each armpit is two sewn ventilation grommets.
The inside is unlined. The collar, the button placket, waistband, and pockets were reinforced with tan cotton canvas. Each breast has a large side inside pocket. The waistband has three button holes.Made/Created
