1939-1945 Defence Medal. Circular, silver. Obverse uncrowned bust of King George VI with circled title "Georgivs VI: D:G:BR:OMN:REX ET INDIAE IMP:" Reverse Royal crown on oak tree stump with lion, lioness, title "1939 The Defence Medal 1945" Suspender a toe claw and straight bar. Ribbon is bright green with thin black stripe each side and thick orange stripe in centre, 3.2 x 9 cm. Court-mounted. Depicted in the top row of medals, fifth from the right.
