Description

1942-1945 Victoria Rifles Canada officer's service dress cap made of green khaki barathea wool. The body is four-piece construction with four brown ventilation grommet holes in the back (1 cm diameter). The cap band and front of the body is stiffened. The cap badge is made of white metal and denotes the Victoria Rifles Canada (4.5 x 4.5 cm). The painted black leather chin strap (1.3 cm wide) is attached to the cap band with blackened brass VRC buttons (1.4 cm diameter). The chin strap is adjustable with sliders. The peak is stiffened. The inside is lined with red silk satin. Over the crown of the lining is a translucent film discoloured orange. The underside of the peak is made of the same material as the facing of the peak. The sweatband is made of brown leather (5 cm wide). Sewn to the sweatband overt the forehead is a strip of velvet ( 1.7 cm wide x 21.7cm long).
