1915-1919 British Expeditionary Forces tropical helmet neckshield made of khaki tan quilted cotton. The neckshield is quilted in a diamond pattern with squares approximately 2.5 - 2.7 cm wide. The bottom of the neck shield is top stitched together. The top of the neck shield is covered with bias tape of the same colour. The twill tape (1.4 cm wide x 35.5/37.5 cm long) ties are made from a matching khaki and attach the neckshield by looping through brass grommets (1 cm diameter) painted black.
Front and back side are nearly identical. Front has an extra layer of stitching on bias tape (not visible in photo).

Worn by the British Expeditionary Forces around the neck.
