Use

A circular silver medal, about 1.42 inches in diameter, is attached to an ornate scroll suspender for mounting. On the left side of the medal is King George V, facing left, and in a Field Marshal's uniform. Inscribed are the words 'GEORGIVS V BRITT : OMN : REX ET IND : IMP :' ' The reverse side displays two laurel leaves tied at the bottom, an Imperial crown at the top, and the inscription 'FOR / MERITORIOUS / SERVICE.'

Context

The Meritorious Service Medal was given to warrant and non-commissioned officers (NCOs) who were discharged from the armed forces after 21 years of service and earned the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. The dates were from 1902 to 1958 if enrolled before 01 September 1939.
