1917-1918 Royal Flying Corps flying helmet cowl. Curved rectangular mid-brown leather, five panels stitched construction. Two rectangular earflaps with hide opening for earphones and speaking tube connector. Earflaps have snap-fastened leather covers. Two buckle-adjustable belts stitched to body (2.3 x 16 cms and 4.7 x 6.5 cms). Two brown leather pull-tabs, one on each side. Lining of five stitched panels light yellow chamois leather, also grey-brown "animal fur" (fox?) lining inside crown and inner/outer edge opening.Made/Created
