1890-1913 Queen's Own Rifles officer's busby made of black astrakhan fur and stiffened with cork. The top is covered with black felt. On the front is a black and sliver cap badge (5.5 cm x 5 cm) denoting the Queen's Own Rifles. The centre is made of red felt and is fronted with the number "2." Over the badge is an oval centrepiece ( 5.5 cm long x 4.5 cm wide) made of red and black cording. The plume (19 cm long from base) is made of black and red horsehair, stuck into a black ball base. On either side of the busby, towards the bottom rim is a silver rosette hook (4 cm long x 2.5 cm wide) to loop the chinstrap. Directly above this rosette, on the top rim is another silver hook (4 cm long x 2.5 cm wide) to secure the two row black cord around the body of the busby. On the back, the two row cord loops around itself. Over the loop is a silver lion hook and ring. The chinstrap (47 cm long x 1.6 cm wide) is silver chain backed onto a red material and black felt. The inside is lined with burgundy silk. The silk is quilted with a diamond motif in the centre. The sweatband is made of a medium brown leather. Brass grommets are on either side of the head, punched into the silk lining.
