Description

1917 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles Lieutenant's service dress cap. Tight weave khaki green barathea wool crown, body, cap band, peak. Soft crown, no wire or cane stiffener. Two ventilation grommet holes each side. Two 1.3 cm. diameter "lobed pattern" brown leather buttons hold an adjustable, buckled, light brown leather chinstrap 1 x 30 cms. Pinned to front is brass 5th CMR cap badge (maple leaf, crown atop "5" and scrolled title "Overseas Mounted Canada", also a beaver, 4 x 4.4 cms. Stiffened peak. Interior of woven hemp covered with light green cotton twill. 4.2 cm. high red-brown leather sweatband
