1917-1918 48th Battalion Private's Glengarry cap/bonnet made of knitted black, red, and white wool. The bonnet is "boat shaped." The bonnet's crown is all black knit whereas the lower half of the body is a checkered red, white, and black knit. On the crown is a red pom-pom or toorie. On the left side of the bonnet is a brass cap badge (5.5 cm x 6 cm) denoting the 48th Battalion of Canada. The cap badge is pinned in place with lugs. On the back, two silk ribbon tails (31 cm long x 3 cm wide) are sewn crossing each other. The bottom edge of the bonnet is bound with a dark brown leather (1.2 cm thick).
The inside is lined with a black twill fabric, possibly cotton or linen.Use
