Description

1950's Royal Canadian Navy officer's service dress cap made of khaki green cotton twill fabric. The crown is round with a wire stiffener. The 4-piece body is made of the same fabric. The crown and body are a separate cover that was worn over the original white cotton twill crown and body. The cap band is made of black wool (5 cm wide) with a sewn cap badge (8 x 10.5 cm) to denote the Royal Canadian Navy. The cap badge is made of black felt, gold and silver bullion wire, burgundy velvet, and silver metal for the anchor. The adjustable chinstrap (28.5 cm long x 1 cm wide) is made of black plastic and is held by two black cotton covered flat brass buttons (1.2 cm diameter). The peak is stiffened and covered with black plastic. The inside is lined with a white nylon (or cotton) fabric. The sweatband is a mid-brown leather (4.2 cm wide).
