Scope and Content

A trimmed down studio portrait of Major Herbert Lionel Oldfield of the 8th Battalion. According to the inscription on the back, he died of wounds (DOW) on April 16th, 1918. Subject is photographed from the waist up, his hands behind his back. He is wearing his full military uniform, including the cap. "Bassano" is embossed in the bottom right corner. The sides of the photograph are fraying, obviously trimmed down from a larger photo.
