1880-1902 British/Canadian Army (Royal Artillery) officer's pillbox forage cap. Flattened oval dark blue wool body/flat-topped crown. Gold lace band 3.7 cm wide around body. On crown is sewn two circular strips of 2 mm. diameter gold bullion wire. In centre crown is a gold wire net ball 2.5 cm. diameter/1 cm. high. Around the gold wire net ball are stitched four gold lace circles: a fifth circle is stitched in, in curves of 17 loops. Lining of cardboard and purple satin, a brown leather headband. A black leather chinstrap still stitched to inside headband.Made/Created
