Description

1940-1942 Royal Canadian Artillery officer's service dress cap made of brown khaki broadcloth wool. The circular crown attaches to a 4-piece body. Four ventilation grommet holes are on the back of the body (0.7 cm diameter). On the cap band is a Royal Canadian Artillery cap badge (7.5 x 5 cm). The adjustable leather chinstrap is attached to the cap band with one brass RCA button (1.4 cm) on either side of the cap. The peak is stiffened. The lining is made of coral pink silk. The crown is covered with an additional translucent film layer (orange colour, probably from the lining and the discolouration of the film). The cap band is stiffened with black-brown plastic wicker in a rattan weave pattern. The sweatband is made of a red-brown leather (4.8 cm wide). The peak is lined with a green fabric.
