Oil painting (oil on canvas) "Lieutenant-Colonel William Hamilton Merritt, Governor General's Horse Guards, 1918." Detail shows Merritt, bareheaded, in dark blue service dress jacket, facing front. A full dress Cavalry helmet is on a table surface to left. His hands hold white leather gauntlets and a P1822 Artillery officer's sword. On the jacket are ribbons for 1885 North-West Capaign, bar "Saskatchewan", 1899-1901 South Affrica War, 1918 Colonial Auxiliary Long Service Medal.Made/Created
