2025.15.11Scope and Content
Paper absentee pass from the Rehabilitation Wing of No. 4 District Depot, where Private Alexander Burton stayed when he was discharged from the Canadian Military. The pass states that Pte. Burton has permission to be absent from his quarters from 17:00 until 07:15 daily, between April 16, 1945 and April 23, 1945, for the purpose of going to Montreal. The pass dated April 16, 1945 and is signed by the C.O. (signature present but difficult to read). There is a stamp on the left bottom corner reading "No.4 District Depot/ C.A.? / APR 7 1945 / Montreal, P.Q." , dating it to over a week earlier.
The back has detailed instructions on the use of the pass. There is also a stamp on the back, horizontally stamped in the middle of the page. It is faint but seems to read the names of places (barracks/ depots?) in Quebec.Lexicon
