Scope and Content

Discharge certificate from the Canadian Army. Given to Private Alexander Burton of the RMR. He enlisted on July 6, 1940 in Westmount and was discharged on April 20, 1945 by reason of being "unable to meet the required military physical standard". He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, Ribbon and Clasp on 15 Jan, 1944, and the War Service Badge "Service Class" upon his discharge. On the back of the certificate there is a stamp stating that Pte. Burton received $2,200 in cash from a rehab grant he was entitled to. The stamp is signed by the Paymaster of District Depot No. 4, where he was rehabilitated.
