A duplicate letter addressed to Basil and CC'd to T.C. Lewis. and dated March 20, 1944. The contents of the letter discusses rumours of disbandment of the R.M.R. and the intent to prevent this disbandment from occurring. The author notes that upon hearing the news of the RMR's potential disbandment, he immediately contacted The Minister of National Defence, D.C. Abbott, and Brooke Clayton for clarity and assistance on the matter. There is discussion of meetings that occurred in which ex-commanding officers and 2nd Bn. officers, honorary and associate members were informed of the news. There is mention of an additional meeting to come to inform Ladies Committee. The author mentions a delegation with Walter Merrill, Victor Whitehead and himself (Hugh Graham Brewer) in which they interviewed with Col. Ralston in Ottawa, who provided them with all available information on the matter. The author writes that they during this meeting, he and victor asked for the disbandment to be reconsidered The letter also cites various cases against disbandment, including: the close ties between the RMR and the City of Westmount; that the City of Westmount had donated the land that the RMR Armoury occupied and had helped up the Regiment on various occasions; the Regiment's concerts at Westmount Park which were enjoyed by the community; the RMR's seniority over other regiments; it's versatile training; and the special qualifications of its commanding officer. The author notes that every effort will be made to ensure that operations will continue as usual in both the Regiment and the Ladies Committee. The end of the letter includes a P.S. which congratulates Major-General Price on his new appointment (uncertain what appointment is being referenced).
