Upon his return, Staff Sergeant C. F. Knight is greeted by friends and family. Amongst his friends is Sergeant S. Nestruck also originally from the Royal Montreal Regiment. Sergeant C. Fred Knight transferred to the Corps of Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and was amongst the first men to reach the soil of Germany. Sergeant S. Nestruck transferred to the 17th Hussars and fought in France and Belgium where he was wounded and lost his leg.
