Length of linen cloth woven in a diaper pattern by Mrs. H. F. Oliver from flax grown in Saco on the farm of George Boothby in 1890. The pattern with small geometric diamonds with a dot in the center was referred to as “bird’s eye”. It was often used for household linens such as toweling because it was more absorbent than a plain weave. This piece of fabric has not been bleached.
