Description

Small pea-green sanded majolica vase with fluted rim, cylindrical neck, sloping shoulder to swelled lower body, and round foot. Overall green glaze with some brown shadowing. The body of the vase is "sanded," glazed and rolled or dipped in small shredded pieces of prefired unglazed clay creating the distinctive decorative texture. The sanded area has a grayish cast. A molded naturalistic rose blossom on a branch with two leaves below the blossom and two above is applied to the front of the vase from the lower left side of the body and terminates at the upper right just below the fluted rim. Unmarked.

Dimension Notes

Width is the overall dimension if one was creating a box for the vase and includes the rose petals. The diameter measurement was taken from the outermost edges of the fluted rim. .
