Description

Sterling silver hair comb belonged to Kate Douglas Wiggin. Top section (3.75 X 2.50 inches high) is engraved with delicate design and cutout in center in shape of a shamrock. Seven teeth are 2 inches wide by 2.50 long. On the back is engraved A. Stowell Sterling. She wore it on many occasions. Once was while she was the guest of Alexandra College, Dublin, Ireland, during Queen Victoria's visit there in 1900. Also, in 1906 while visiting at the Vice Regal Lodge, Dublin, as the guest of Lord and Lady Aberdeen. The comb was given to Mrs. Simpson in 1924 by Miss Nora Archibald Smith following her sister's death on April 24, 1923 in England.
