Marking sampler worke by Betsy Nason Googins in black, brown, white, and blue threads on unbleached linen; worked in cross, satin, queen, and straight stitches. Two upper case and one lower case alphabet over the maker's inscription, location, and date, over a verse that reads:
"Behold oer death's bewildering wave, the rainbow hope arise
A bridge of glory oer the grave, that bears beyond the skies"
"Sure if one blessing heaven on man bestows
Tis the Pure Peace that concious virtue knows"
"Delightful task to rear the tender thaugh
And teach the tender young how to shoot"
Enclosed within a simple lozenge border on three sides with a simpler zig-zag border along the bottom edge.Made/Created
