Description

Red wool broadcloth hood constructed of two separate pieces of wool broadcloth seamed up the back. Back is gathering into 11 concentric pleats sewn together with a double thickness of dark yellow thread. Front has a now brown (probably originally red) woven tape sewn around the edge to form a casing; casing is threaded with the same tape to serve as a drawstring. Neck band of hood is lined with the same pinkish red/orage silk as the front of the cloak. The edges of the silk lining are turned under and sewn down on both sides of the flattened seams that attach the hood and bottom flap to the collar. Bottom edge of the hood is sewn to the collar, which is unhemmed, and 3.75" long.
