Description

Metal key chain (chain missing) for Velvet Hotel, Old Orchard Beach Maine room key, room #414 (The Velvet burned in the fire of 1907) Hotel located at corner of East Grand Ave. and Old Orchard Ave. (where Palace Playland is now) burned on Aug. 15, 1907. It was owned by Hildreth, a candy maker, known for his "velvet" kisses which were packaged in yellow boxes. The hotel was painted red and yellow to match.
