Description

Glass lantern slide of the Temple of Music illuminated at night at the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, New York in 1901. "Illumination" is written on the label on the slide. The Pan American Expo was the first public display of electricity at a grand scale. The lights were actually multicolored and described as a "rainbow" of colors. President William McKinley was assassinated at this site on September 6, 1901. The Expo concluded in November and all the buildings were torn down.
