White kid leather shoes with flat sole and half inch heel. A label on inside sole reads (upper left corner of label missing): ".....ES, .....y made for, .... M. Mansfield, Thomas Street, Newport. Rips mended gratis."

According to the donor, these shoes were first worn by Sarah Webber when she married John Norton Coffin on December 26, 1802. They were then worn by her daughter, Mary Emery Coffin when she married Horace Bacon on April 22, 1828. She was born July 25, 1807 and died in Dover, NH April 13, 1882. The shoes were worn once again by Mary Elizabeth Bacon (daughter of Mary, granddaughter of Sarah) when she married Samuel E. Clark of Biddeford, ME on March 13, 1856. She was born November 9, 1835.
