Description

Family register sampler made by Sarah Moody of Saco in 1812, when she was 26. Worked in silk thread in cross and straight stitches on green linsey-woolsey fabric. Simple geometric border and text worked in sloping text, which is characteristic of the works of Sarah and her school. The embroidered text reads: "Family Record Wm. Pepperell son of Edmund and Mary Moody was born in Kittery Nov. 16 1741 Married Elizabeth daughter of Samuel & Mehitable Scamman born July 29th 1747 Their Descendants are Edmund Moody born Oct. 3rd AD 1765 Mary-March 2, 1768 Joshua-March 7, 1778 William-July 10, 1770 Samuel-April 27, 1780 Elizabeth-April 22, 1773 Enoch-August 31, 1784 Mehitable-Dec 4, 1775 Sarah-Dec. 5, 1786 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Wm.
