Description

Sampler worked by Sarah Moody of Saco in 1806. Silk thread on unbleached linen, worked in cross, satin, queen, and straight stitches in shades of gold, green, beige, and brown. Diamond border is worked in satin stitch. There are four alphabets divided by lines and decorative bands above the verse: "To The Ladies While rosy cheeks their bloom confess And youth their bosom warms Let virtue and knowledge dress Their mind in brighter charms." Her name is inscribed at the bottom: "Sarah Moody's Sampler wrought in the year 1806"
