Description

Large marking sampler worked by Alsa Ann Scamman on unbleached linen in silk thread. Work in predominantly brown and blue threads in cross, satin, and straight stitches. Four uppercase alphabets, two lower case alphabets, and one series of numbers above a serrated decorative band. Below the band is the verse: "Remember thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not nor the years draw nigh when thou shalt say I have no pleasure in them." And the inscription: "Alsa Ann Scamman. aged 14 years" At the bottom is a large decorative vine worked in shades of blue and brown.
