Description

Fragment of cotton (or cotton/linen) fabric copper-plate printed in sepia in the pattern "America Presenting at the Altar of Liberty Medallions of Her Illustrious Sons." The fragment only includes the part of the scene with the trophies of war: a pile with arms such as pikes and cannon, drums, flags, and trumpets. The top of a tree is to the left. The fragment appears to be almost a complete selvedge width. The right hand side has a very small herm (1/8"). The selvage has two blue threads (now very faded) woven in, indicating British manufacture.
