Linen shirt with a wide collar. Open at the front. Closes at the collar with a narrow tie of fine cotton muslin; midway down the front is a small button and buttonhole. The collar has a narrow ruffle of fine muslin as do the sleeve cuffs. The sleeves are gathered at the should and into the narrow 1" cuffs; they retain their ironed in pleats. There are gussets on the shoulder seams where the collar attaches and a gusset under each armhole. There are no reinforcing patches at the shoulder or along the sleeve opening. The hem along the front of the shirt and the bottom hem are rather large for the period--3/8". The side seams are very narrow and felled.
