Glass plate negative photo of Captain Seth Spring's Tavern (also known as Lafayette House) at 14 Elm Street. Towards the end of the 19th century, the building was converted into a tenement (as shown here). It was later restored into the colonial style for the offices of Deering Lumber Co.
