Description

Copy of a trade sign on paper painted by Gibeon E. Bradbury, "Ornamental Painting." According to the inscription by Bradbury on the back, this is a copy of the sign that he used in 1860-1861 when he worked in Portland. The sign consists of a large blue gray horseshoe shaped cartouche with a gold foliate and floral border on a navy blue background. At the center of the cartouche is a young woman--an allegorial representation of art. Bradbury advertised "Banners painted" and "photographs colored" on his sign.
