Scope and Content

Volume 6 of the travel diaries of Ethelinda Deering Frey, Dresden, Germany, Feburary 27, 1911 to Prague, March 7, 1911

Context

Volume 6 of the travel diaries picks up at the end of February, after about a six week gap; volume 5 ended with an entry for January 15. The group traveled from Dresden to Berlin on February 27. They began their visit with a trip to the opera to see "Madame Butterfly." The group spent a significant amount of time in art galleries, and Ethelinda described the paintings she saw in great detail. While in Berlin, they made a trip to Potsdam where they toured through Sanssouci, the summer palace built by Frederick the Great of Prussia. On March 6, the group moved on to Prague.
