Wedding dress belonging to Mary Mildred Perry. Champagne colored silk fabric lined in light weight off-white silk. Boat neck with short sleeves. Straight silhouette with a dropped waist. Attached overblouse fastens at the left side from the neck to the waist with snaps; the placement of the snaps at the side served as a way to adjust the fit of the dress. Underneath is an off-white silk bodice that is secured up the front with snaps and then is attached to a skirt of the same material with a unique ribbon arrangement that gathers the underskirt at the natural waistline. The neck and armholes of the underdress have tricot edging. The front of the underbodice closes with hooks and eyes in the front. Straight skirt with soft gathers. At the left side, the skirt is closed with snaps at the top near the waist as well as at the side. The skirt is slit below the dropped waist around mid-calf and overlaps slightly at the front exposing a lace trim on the under slip. An applied medallion outlined with pearls, with bead and pearl leaves and flowers, and a central star on a net ground is applied at the waist. The medallion appears to be a pair of pre-made pocket decorations or cuffs placed back-to-back with a center decoration of a pearl starburst filling the space. The under slip is decorated with a wide band of lace sewn 11" from the bottom of the slip. The lace appears to be applied lace on a net background with a floral pattern and a scalloped bottom edge. At the very bottom edge of the slip is a 1" band of lace. The train, attached to the neckline, is a strip of fabric 10" wide that goes from the back of the neck to the hem and is tacked to the back around the waistline. There is a combination of hand and machine stitching throughout the garment.Made/Created
