Folding pleated fan with double leaf of black silk guaze, ebonized wood sticks and guards, black metal button, metal rivet, loop of painted black metal, no tassel. Decoration of leaf (recto): Painted in gouache, a young woman in 18th century dress leaning against a stone wall, right hand holding an object (a bowl or basket). Delicate stems of yellow flowers rising from the wall, garlands of white flowers above and below the figure, white flowers with leaves lightly scattered about the leaf. Decoration of leaf (verso): None. Guards and sticks are shaped and ornamented with gold motifs.Dimensions
