Unfinished wool crazy quilt composed of 14" squares; it is probably half of a quilt top that has been split lengthwise. The face of the quilt is a variety of wool clothing fabrics: solids, plaids, stripes, etc. The embroidery threads appear to all be wool; some are 2-ply and some are single ply. There is both hand and machine sewing. Machine stitching was used to connect the 14" squares. There is no embroidery stitching covering the seams where the squares were joined. The individual squares were embroidered first and then attached to each other. The backing is composed of a vareity of shirting, simple dress, and light muslin-weight fabrics; most appear to be reused.
The quilt was most likely made by someone in the lower, working class because of the material used in it. There are some floral stitchings on the quilt as well.
