Quilts have long served as a medium for recording community history and raising funds for local causes. Filled with embroidered symbols of the Revolution and Maine, this quilt was handcrafted by the women associated with the North Saco Fire Department local fire company auxiliary and sold in a fund-raising raffle during the Bicentennial. Rather than relying on mass-produced store souvenirs, these women channeled their creativity into a collaborative project. The hours spent designing, stitching, and raffling this piece brought neighbors together to celebrate the anniversary while raising funds for a valuable cause.
