Memorial Hall served as the art gallery for the 1876 Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia. Featuring a Beaux-Arts design, a large glass dome, and a statue of Columbia, the building showcased international and American art. Memorial Hall is the only major surviving building from the 1876 Exhibition. In 1877, it reopened as the first home of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and currently houses the Please Touch museum. The building remains a National Historic Landmark in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park.
