Description

Round bronze colored metal award given to alum William J. Gross, class of 1938, in honor of his research with Johnson & Johnson in developing the Band-Aid. The medal includes and image of General Robert Wood Johnson with a microscope and beaker, surrounded by the words "THE JOHNSON MEDAL" on the front. The rear includes a female image with the words "JOHNSON MEDAL FOR RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT/ WILLIAM J. GROSS/ 1960." The award was adopted in 1960. The medal is enclosed in a crimson velvet and black leather case.
