Neill Osgood was born June 11, 1898, in Calais, Maine, and was raised in Aberdour Lodge in 1928, serving 26 years as its treasurer; he also affiliated with The Harvard Lodge (1933) and was a charter member of Maugus Hill Lodge in Wellesley (1958). He served as Master of Aberdour Lodge (1933, 1934), of the Seventh Lodge of Instruction (1936), as District Deputy Grand Master of the Boston Second District (1938-39), Deputy Grand Master (1955), and later Grand Treasurer (1969-73), being elected Grand Master in 1963. A graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy (1917) and Harvard University (B.A. 1921), he served as a Second Lieutenant of Infantry in the First World War and afterward led the C.E. Osgood Company, his family's furniture business, until his retirement. He received the Joseph Warren Distinguished Service Medal (1950), the Henry Price Medal (1955), the Scottish Rite 33rd degree (1964), and Connecticut's Pierpont Edwards Medal (1965). Osgood died November 13, 1976, in Boston.
