Visual depictions of Albert T. Ames, Grand Master of Massachusetts, 1987-89. Albert T. Ames was born in 1932 in Natick, Massachusetts, and became a Master Mason in 1958, serving as Worshipful Master of Meridian Lodge in Natick in 1963-64; he was also a charter member and Worshipful Master (1976-77) of The DeMolay Lodge in Boston, and belonged to Wellesley Lodge and the honorary Artisan Lodge in Winchendon, as well as the charter Masters Lodge in Newtonville. He served as Grand Steward (1971), District Deputy Grand Master of the 23rd District (1976-77), Grand Marshal (1978-80), and Senior Grand Warden (1981) before his installation as the 70th Grand Master on December 29, 1987. An Army veteran of the Korean conflict, he owned and operated Al Ames Associates, an automotive repair business in Natick, and was active in the Charles River Rotary Club and Disabled American Veterans. His term as Grand Master oversaw the Grand Lodge's 250th-anniversary observances, and today is the most senior living Past Grand Master.
