Visual depictions of David W. Lovering, Grand Master of Massachusetts, 1993-95. David W. Lovering was born October 6, 1921, and was raised in Nehoiden Lodge in Needham in 1946, later serving as Master of the 34th Lodge of Instruction (1975); he was also a charter member of The Masters Lodge in Newtonville (1984) and belonged to Marine Lodge in Falmouth. He served as District Deputy Grand Master of the Waltham 5th District (1977-78), Senior Grand Warden (1986), and Grand Lecturer (1987-92) before his installation as the 72nd Grand Master in 1993. He spent nearly forty years as a consultant and chemist for Arthur D. Little Inc., retiring in 1980. As Grand Master he established the Grand Lodge Scholarship Program, secured official recognition of the Prince Hall Grand Lodge, reorganized several Grand Lodge boards, and launched the FLIC program; he was also a fifty-year Boy Scouting volunteer, a York and Scottish Rite member, an Aleppo Shriner, and an amateur radio operator, and he held the Henry Price Medal. Lovering died October 16, 2009, at the age of 88.
