Hicks, Jr. was born December 12, 1940, and was raised in Wamesit Lodge in Tewksbury in May 1962, serving as its Worshipful Master in 1969-71, 1999-2000, 2014, and 2021; he held affiliations with more than a dozen additional lodges, including The DeMolay, Thomas Talbot, Norfolk, The Masters, Mount Holyoke, Social Harmony, Columbian, Alexandria-Washington No. 22 in Virginia, William Parkman, The Harvard, St. John's of Boston, Wilder, Major General Henry Knox, Merrimack Valley Daylight, and The Henry Price Lodge. He served as Deputy Grand Master in 1987 before his election as Grand Master in 2002. A career banking executive, he served as President and CEO of Reading Co-operative Bank, having earlier been Executive Vice President of Fitchburg Savings Bank and Controller of Worcester North Savings Bank. He received the Scottish Rite 33rd degree in 1980 and had belonged to the Order of DeMolay since 1955, serving as its Master Councilor in 1960, and he later served as a National Ski Patrol Regional Director. Hicks lived from 1940 to 2025.
